Belo Horizonte, Brazil
This one-day immersive workshop offers an opportunity to engage with Luiza Braz Batista's artistic approach and embodied practice, exploring the intersections of body, memory, and stage presence.
Drawing from her perspective as a Brazilian artist who has lived in Germany for the past nineteen years, Luiza shares a practice deeply shaped by her long-standing collaborations with two of the most influential pioneers of Dance Theatre: Pina Bausch and Susanne Linke. Her ongoing artistic exchange with Susanne Linke continues to nourish and transform her creative work.
Within this context, memory is understood as a living practice of transmission and transformation. Through her experience in restaging and transmitting the works of these choreographers, Luiza investigates how artistic knowledge becomes embodied, evolves over time, and is continually reimagined through encounters with new artists, cultures, and contexts.
The workshop invites participants to explore how the legacy of Dance Theatre can be carried forward and reinvented in contemporary bodies—particularly those shaped by migration, cultural exchange, and singular life experiences.
Designed for dance and theatre artists, this immersive experience focuses on deep listening, embodied presence, and the dramaturgy of movement as powerful forms of poetic, political, and personal expression.
The day includes a welcome tea, a shared lunch, and a closing gathering with refreshments.
Registration is limited.
